We always got a kick out of Lucy when our parents would drive us down to Atlantic City, both pre and post all the casinos.

Of course, today we drive ourselves down there once in a while. I think a little kitsch is good for the soul.

Joannjmbreslinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00761922977726025492noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1928618793663269632.post-91820491391977481552008-09-17T19:35:00.000-04:002008-09-17T19:35:00.000-04:00Was the ball of twine in Kansas? I must like kitsch things because I like off the wall type things. I don't drink wine there was a German wine inthe 70's I found I enjoyed but could never remember which one out of two spatlase or auslase-no longer sure about the spelling it has been almost 30 years lol.Kathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05983209367295987926noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1928618793663269632.post-61626806519471851892008-09-17T10:18:00.000-04:002008-09-17T10:18:00.000-04:00There's the Hodag in Rhinelander, WI when you ente...There's the Hodag in Rhinelander, WI when you enter the town.

Morgan Mandel
www.morganmandel.com
http://morganmandel.blogspot.com
http://bloodredpencil.blogspot.comMorgan Mandelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10118929301591850918noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1928618793663269632.post-10033081562738939912008-09-17T10:13:00.000-04:002008-09-17T10:13:00.000-04:00The best kitsch I didn't see was The World's Bigge...The best kitsch I didn't see was The World's Biggest Prairie Dog. We were crossing Kansas and kept passing signs for it.

My stance was (and still is) that we should have been able to see it from the road. We could see stuff at least 10 miles away (we measured). Either it wasn't that large, or it was too far for a side trip. My spouse and I joked about it till we got to Colorado.Sarah Glennhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12455113960686270662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1928618793663269632.post-76205643184020597302008-09-17T09:41:00.000-04:002008-09-17T09:41:00.000-04:00Now, Chris, one just has to be choosy about that w...Now, Chris, one just has to be choosy about that wine in a box. It may be kitsch, but some of it is quite good. I've even read that it is a better way to keep wine good than with a cork.

Either way, just don't take it away!

pat Batta
patriciabatta.blogspot.comPat Battahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14849549642679778901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1928618793663269632.post-34363430433932263832008-09-17T08:24:00.000-04:002008-09-17T08:24:00.000-04:00Charity,Just let me bring the wine!cmrCharity,
Just let me bring the wine!
cmrChris Reddinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00429148293004912993noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1928618793663269632.post-6314718645614968452008-09-17T08:11:00.000-04:002008-09-17T08:11:00.000-04:00Kitsch rules! It keeps things fresh and interesting. Not to mention that one man's kitsch is another man's art, much as Kathy said.

As for no wine in a box -- LOL! I guess there's no thumping the bag for you, Chris. I'll have to remember to check with my sommelier for our conference party. I just don't "get" the other kind. Perhaps it's because I can't tell the difference between "good" art and kitsch. I've seen art that the critics loved but I thought was kitsch. I guess I'll stick to punching and kicking.KM Fawcetthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06474744487261610126noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1928618793663269632.post-38103920053065334002008-09-17T07:27:00.000-04:002008-09-17T07:27:00.000-04:00Dinosaurland somewhere in West Virginia-Virginia.....Dinosaurland somewhere in West Virginia-Virginia...oh, man, is that kitsch...however, they have the greatest gift shop I have ever been in in my entire life.

The "dinosaurs" are painted concrete with a mighty King Kong you can climb up and have your picture taken in his hand...the creator of the place definitely had never read a book with pictures of dinosaurs in it, but it is so much fun! Great for little kids who can still be impressed by that kind of stuff.Irenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02684465134160083369noreply@blogger.com
