cosmopolite \koz-MOP-uh-lyt\, noun:
1. One who is at home in every place; a citizen of the world; a cosmopolitan person.
2. (Ecology) An organism found in most parts of the world.
I am probably the antithesis of a cosmopolite. I'm a homebody and that's where I love to be.
Don't get me wrong. I've been other places. I've lived in Switzerland and in England. I did my best to fit in, but I was not one of those people who can step off the plane and act like they've been there before.
Plus, I get terrible jet lag.
Not that I didn't embrace the culture I was living in. I did. I spoke French as much as possible when in Switzerland. I enjoyed British culture also and made some friends that I still send Christmas cards to 16 years later.
But alas, I'm a homebody. I'm glad I don't have a job that requires me to travel. I'd do it, but I'd always been thinking about when I'd get home.
Do you like to travel? Where have you been that neat?
